Designing for a quieter feed

A good filter should disappear into the background while leaving you in control.

Most tools for managing attention ask you to spend more attention managing the tool. We wanted Sift to work differently: set a preference once, then get out of the way.

That principle shapes the product. Decisions happen on your device, controls use plain language, and hidden posts can be inspected instead of vanishing mysteriously. The goal is not a perfectly clean feed; it is a feed where the trade-offs are yours.

We are building toward a calmer default for the internet: fewer interruptions, better explanations, and the ability to change your mind without starting over.
